Michael Riskin

MFT Trainee

Originally from Northern California, Michael is a Marriage and Family Therapy trainee currently pursuing his Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology at Pepperdine University. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from UCLA and comes from a large family of therapists and social workers, which has deeply shaped his passion for mental health treatment, awareness, and advocacy.

Michael takes an integrative approach to therapy, drawing from psychodynamic, cognitive, systems-focused, and acceptance-based modalities. He strives to create a therapeutic environment that balances sensitivity, warmth, and humor, while emphasizing collaboration and meaningful relationship-building. Providing a nonjudgmental and affirming space is central to his work with clients.

Prior to entering the mental health field, Michael spent many years working in the entertainment industry. He remains active in music and the arts and thoughtfully incorporates creativity and self-expression into his therapeutic approach, supporting clients in exploring their experiences in holistic and authentic ways.
