The Mindful Mother
What does it really mean to be a mindful mother and how can we create mindfulness within our family?
Mindfulness begins with ourselves as moms. Once we can become calm and grounded it trickled down through our whole family.
The easiest way to start is with your breathing.
Mother’s are very busy and usually don’t have much time for themselves.I found this to be very true while raising my family. If something took too much time or effort, there was no way I was going to even consider it. But we all have the ability to breathe. It doesn’t take time or money and we are already doing it every minute of the day. The key is to slow down just a bit and focus on your breathing a couple times a day. You can breathe while feeding your baby, standing in line at the grocery store or while driving to work. Just simply breathe in and hold it for 6 seconds and breathe out for 8 seconds. As long as your out breath is longer than your in breath you are good to go. As a mother, it feels like you are always taking care of others with no time for yourself. Here is a great place to start.I know it sounds too easy to be helpful but try it and see how it can transform your mothering experience one breath at a time!
